ROLE This rare career opportunity, located in Melbourne, is suitable for a Research and Innovation Manager with expertise in cosmetics. The person in this role will foster creativity and productivity within a dynamic, modern R&D laboratory and uphold continuous stringent quality standards. The Head of Research & Innovation offers the chance to engage in diverse short- and long-term projects, collaborating with a dynamic team. Reporting to the Managing Director (MD), the key duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Develop and execute the company's long-term R&D strategy to drive product innovation, quality, and market competitiveness, aligned with the company's business goals and market trends. Collaborate with the MD, the R&D Manager and executive leadership to align R&D efforts with the overall business goals and growth objectives. Lead a skilled and motivated Research & Development team. Provide mentorship, coaching, and professional development to the R&D Manager and their team of direct reports, fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and innovation. Stay informed of industry trends, consumer preferences, and emerging technologies. Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify gaps and opportunities in the personal care market. In collaboration with the R&D Manager, manage the entire product lifecycle, from ideation to discontinuation, ensuring products are continuously improved and optimised. REQUIREMENTS The ideal Head of Research & Innovation embodies positivity, proactivity and professionalism. Our client is looking for a true team player who will promote the company's continued growth. They are expected to meet the following criteria: At a minimum, a relevant degree in the scientific field such as Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Formulation or similar. A Masters or PhD will be well-regarded. Substantial experience in research and development in the cosmetic industry including familiarity with relevant technologies and equipment. Substantial demonstrated experience in an R&D senior leadership role including conducting performance evaluations, setting objectives, and supporting professional growth and development of the R&D team. Familiarity and knowledge of TGA regulations and standards related to personal care and cosmetics to ensure compliance with relevant government legislation, and industry regulations. Experience in developing and managing R&D budgets and allocating resources effectively. Proven track record of developing and executing long-term R&D strategies. Strong strategic thinking and the ability to align R&D efforts with overall business goals and market trends. Experience in taking proactive measures to mitigate risks and capitalise on opportunities. Strong record-keeping and reporting skills. Experience in monitoring and managing the progress of multiple projects, ensuring adherence to budget, timeline, and quality standards. Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, team-oriented and good work ethic with the ability to achieve successful outcomes. Why Apply?
