The Role
We are looking for a Head of Quality who will be responsible for establishing the quality assurance strategy, overseeing and managing all activities of the quality assurance team, and championing continuous improvement efforts and defect reduction initiatives to establish an effective Quality Management System (QMS).
As the Head of Quality, you will report to the Chief Supply Chain Officer and be based at our Mentone site. You will work closely with other senior leaders and cross-functional teams to ensure that the quality assurance strategy aligns with the business priorities and objectives. You will also communicate and collaborate with external stakeholders, such as customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies, to ensure compliance with food safety regulations, standards, and quality systems. You will lead, mentor, and develop a team of quality assurance professionals who will execute the quality assurance policies, programs, and initiatives. You will also drive the right behaviour by driving a Quality Culture.
The Person
To be successful in this role, you will need to have the following essential competencies and behaviours:
Tertiary Qualification in Food Science or equivalent. Industry experience in a manufacturing environment in a quality related field. Strategic thinking and planning expertise throughout the entire product development life cycle with a strong sense of quality ownership making sure that quality is baked in from the start. Ability to act as mentor to key departmental personnel, assisting in the performance of duties upon request, ensuring the constant improvement of their skills. Experience in corrective action as well as preventative action, but with emphasis on root cause analyses. Knowledge of emerging best practices and adopts the most suitable for application in the quality assurance team. Demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, being able to influence cross-functional departmental leaders in a particular direction. Highly collaborative with the ability to work together with numerous functional teams. Demonstrates initiative and energy that delivers on deadlines while maintaining Patties values. Excellent communicator, ability to communicate across all levels of stakeholders (written, verbal & presentation). Committed to Food Quality and Food Safety. Able to efficiently prioritise work and timely inform stakeholders on the progress.
