We are located in Sunnybank, students are drawn from surrounding suburbs of Acacia Ridge, Coopers Plains, Salisbury, Eight Mile Plains, Archerfield and Rocklea. All students who attend the school are diagnosed with an intellectual disability. Over 70% of these students have a dual diagnosis of Intellectual Disability and Autistic Spectrum Disorder. The school community has a very diverse multicultural background, with 80% of students coming from Non-English speaking, refugee or migrant backgrounds.About the RoleOffering exceptional learning opportunities to our diverse groups of learners, Sunnybank Special is located just 9 km from the CBD of Brisbane. Our school is a dynamic meeting place of many cultures, languages and Head of Department (Curriculum), your role will be to unpack and apply the Australian Curriculum, version 9, with the teaching staff. You will provide guidance and advise, seek clarification for unusual and usual questions and enjoy building the capability and confidence of staff with shared teaching lessons, demonstrations and facilitating watching others work closely as a team and the ability to lead projects, being a team player and support were needed is essential.
