Networks & Systems Administration (Information & Communication Technology) Full time Harmony is the largest gold producer by volume in South Africa and is a significant operator of gold tailings retreatment facilities. In Papua New Guinea, Harmony owns and operates the Hidden Valley mine and owns 50% of the Tier 1 Wafi-Golpu copper-gold project. Harmony recently acquired 100% of the Eva Copper project, a near-term copper project in Queensland, Australia.
The Role: Based 50% on-site in PNG and 50% in our Brisbane office, you'll work a unique roster:
9 days on-site in PNG 5-day break Two standard 5-day weeks in Brisbane (with the option to work from home two days a week) As a Senior Network Administrator, you will: Provide architectural advice and support for our network systems. Monitor, analyse, and troubleshoot network performance to ensure everything runs smoothly. Implement proactive solutions to reduce operational risks and improve network availability. Stay ahead of the curve by evaluating new network hardware and software solutions. Collaborate with the team to scope, procure, implement, and evaluate new network solutions. Create and update essential documentation to keep everything organised. Lead, train and coach IT staff across Australia and PNG, sharing your expertise and knowledge. Implement and enforce network security policies and best practices to protect against unauthorized access, data breaches, and other security threats. Your Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience with network equipment and protocols such as Fortinet, Cisco, SDWAN, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, VPN, etc. Advanced troubleshooting skills in a high-availability environment. Fortinet Certified Professional and/or Cisco CCNP qualifications. Demonstrated experience with most of the below:
Wired and wireless secure LAN (802.11x, NAC, NPS, etc.). Private LTE. Microwave backhaul solutions (Ubiquiti). Network security solutions, including firewalls, NAC, ZTNA, SASE, and SD-WAN, primarily on the Fortinet platform. CCTV and Access Control. Process Control Networks. Cybersecurity (IEC62443 / CISSP, etc.). Experience or qualifications with ITSM and Project management frameworks like ITIL. Safety First: Understand and adhere to statutory requirements and company procedures. Participate in safety meetings and contribute to a safe working environment. Identify and report hazards and incidents and take responsibility for correcting unsafe acts and conditions. Ability to work unsupervised in a hazardous mining environment. Qualifications and Experience: 5+ years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on enterprise-level network infrastructure. Proven experience with designing, implementing, and managing large-scale networks in a hybrid multi-site and cloud environment. Experience in mining or similar remote environments required. Relevant experience with Windows and Linux servers is desirable. Experience in PNG or similar communities is desirable. Fortinet certification is desirable. A Bachelor of IT (Information Technology) or equivalent experience is preferred. IT security qualifications are advantageous.
