The roleAs Delivery Manager in DEA, you are critical in helping uplift our capabilities and maintaining a positive, productive, and collaborative working environment. These include capabilities in project planning, reporting and change management; risk management; product development and delivery; as well as benefits realisation management. Uplift capability focus will be two-pronged: 1) within the RPD's Directorate and 2) across the Program. Within the Directorate you will be working with six multidisciplinary teams focused on improving our project management capabilities as well as our product and service delivery. Across the Program you will be interfacing and collaborating with two other Directorates: 1) Services and Support and 2) the Value Management Office (VMO). The Program has several initiatives and frameworks that need implementing and championing within the Directorate, which you will help lead and/or assist with. These include the Project Management and Governance Framework (PMGF), Quality Framework; Benefits Realisation Management Framework (BRMF) as well as implementing recommendations endorsed by the Senior Leadership Group (SLG) from the various working groups.
In this role you will:Lead implementation of new/improved practices and continuously refine collaboration in our project planning and reporting processes by embedding the endorsed PMGF; developing Quality Framework and BRMF etc. Use the most appropriate project management practices depending on project being managed; DEA uses a mixture of Prince2 and Agile, with some waterfall projects. This may include partaking and/or leading rituals (i.e. retrospectives, showcases, stand-ups etc.) where warranted to ensure optimal project delivery.Foresee and resolve blockers affecting delivery of our projects and business-as-usual activities led and/or contributed by the RPD Directorate. This means closely collaborating and cooperating with the other Directorates and the VMO as required in all phases of inception, planning, reporting and delivering of our work plan.Facilitate and/or participate in exploration workshops to collaboratively and cooperatively solve problems with a diverse team of specialists. These might include Earth observing and spatial scientists, software engineers, project/team leads, and/or subject matter experts. If problems cannot be solved at the team level, work with the RPD Director, and/or wider Program's leadership team via the Senior Leadership Group and/or DEA Management Committee to resolve.Ensure we align and assist with continuously improving the governance, planning and reporting expectations of DEA and Geoscience Australia from the RPD Directorate's perspective by working closely with the VMO. This includes contributing to reporting at organisational, program and work (i.e. project & BaU) levels on risk, benefits and finances, as well as registering lessons learned. Also, developing, maintaining and/or improving documentation and/or templates pertaining to our business process and/or delivering our work plan.On the administrative level maintain and continuously refine use of collaborative tools such as JIRA, Miro, and Office 365 as required.To be successful in the role you will:Understand program objectives and ensure plans are aligned.Work collaboratively with DE directorates and teams of diverse specialists to explore and resolve issues. This includes working with the RPD's Director, the SLG and/or DMC depending on the timing of issues needing resolution and/or decisions.Explore important issues constructively and stand by your own position when required.Involve people, encourage them and recognise their contributions.Consult and share information to ensure others are kept informed of issues.Maintain awareness of best practice in delivery management approaches as well as project management.Required skills, knowledge, experience and/or qualificationsExperience working in Agile delivery management and/or Project Management roles using either SAFE, Prince2 and/or Scrum frameworks.Experience working under pressure with conflicting priorities in delivering Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and/or government programs.Demonstrated good people skills with ability to work with a diverse range of people with scientific and/or engineering backgrounds.Demonstrated planning, organisational, and change management skills.Demonstrated ability to work with limited direction and show good judgment.Excellent communication skills both written and oral.Are you unsure about applying?Did you know that a Hewlett Packard internal report found that men apply for jobs when they meet an average of 60 percent of the job requirements?
