Location:The Royal Hobart Hospital and Department of Cytogenetics is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for a Genetic Pathologist vacancy.
Who are we? Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania's largest hospital and major referral centre.
As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH collaborates with the University of Tasmania and other institutions.
Pathology Services provides a comprehensive pathology service developed for a teaching hospital and academic environment.
The Service is a Tasmanian referral centre for molecular biology, cytogenetics, renal biopsies, immunophenotyping, stem cell transplantation and many specialised microbiological, chemical and haematologic tests, and provides an outpatient specimen collection facility through Pathology South.

Responsibilities:The Genetic Pathologist will provide a senior role in both cytogenetics and molecular pathology at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) Pathology services and will:

Remuneration:A remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.
Base salary points range for Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 at $216,300 through to Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11 at $296,640 with further salary increments available.
Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $300,216 - $310,389 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award.In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
Allowance in lieu of motor vehicle currently set at $28,389 pro rata per annum, paid fortnightly (with CPI indexation on 1 July each year).Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,480 pro rata per annum.On call allowance % of Base Salary.All other allowances as per current Award.And subject to approval from the Private Patient Scheme Committee (PPS), 35% of Base salary plus on-call, pro rata of additional payment will be paid from (PPS).
If not admitted to the PPS, a 35% in lieu of PPS of base salary will be paid.Details of Appointment:Permanent, part-time day work (with on-call), working 38 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible.

Minimum Requirements:Holds specialist registration; orIs a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who is on the specialist pathway.Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who has a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the speciality.The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer.
