At Toorak College, we are passionate about building students' confidence through hands-on learning in food preparation and culinary skills. We are seeking an enthusiastic Food Technology Assistant to support our dynamic Food Technology Department, commencing in 2025.
Role and Responsibilities:
This part-time role will see the successful candidate working in our Arts/Technology Centre, supporting Food Technology classes in particular. Your day will involve:
Preparing the kitchen and ingredients for Food Technology classes as per the teachers' instructions. Assisting students/teachers in class with Food Technology activities to ensure classes run smoothly. Cleaning/maintaining a safe and hygienic classroom environment, including "end of term' cleans of ovens and appliances. Laundering tea towels. Maintaining stock inventory, ordering and receiving of supplies. Assisting with administration duties as required. Ensuring the health and safety of students. About You:
The successful candidate will possess:
Extensive knowledge of safe food handling. Ability to communicate and work effectively within a team. Ability to work unsupervised and follow department procedures and processes. Basic knowledge of food preparation. A basic understanding of kitchen processes including monitoring stock levels, safe use of commercial kitchen equipment, food safety and hygiene.
