The Head of Digital oversees the implementation of the Museum's Digital Transformation Strategy and is instrumental in shaping the Museum's digital presence, ensuring that digital experiences align with strategic objectives and enhance audience engagement. The position leads the implementation of a new digital experience platform for the Museum, modernising the user experience and reimagining the digital visual identity, to elevate the Museum's profile nationally and globally. The position provides strategic direction and leadership to the Digital team and external stakeholders, driving innovation, collaboration and excellence in digital content. Additionally, the role collaborates with internal stakeholders to plan content across multiple channels, creating deep user engagement and expanding the Museum's reach through analysis and user experience research.
Key accountabilities Lead the Digital business unit to implement the Museum's Digital Transformation Strategy, aligning digital initiatives with strategic goals and objectives.Transform the digital user experience by migrating core Museum digital products to a new content management system (CMS) and oversee the development of a new multi-channel digital experience platform and reimagination of the visual identity, to create a modern digital interface that enhances the ways in which visitors interact with the Museum.Provide leadership in complex problem-solving and issues management for digital projects and technologies supporting access to the Museum collection and digital environments.Manage effective project development and delivery, business planning, reporting, stakeholder management, staff management, compliance and contracting within the Digital business unit.Lead the internal and externally provided application/web development technical solutions for the Museum's digital platforms.Collaborate with internal stakeholders to plan and execute digital content across multiple channels, ensuring seamless and engaging user experiences.Provide leadership and guidance to the digital team, fostering a culture of innovation, creativity and collaboration.Develop and implement strategies to grow online audiences through digital avenues, deepen audience engagement and drive conversions to onsite visitation, commerce sales, memberships and donations.Ensure digital content meets best practice standards for accessibility, accuracy, engagement and alignment with strategic objectives, including compliance with legal requirements in accessibility, copyright, privacy and security guidelines.Manage relationships with external service providers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality digital products and services.Monitor and analyse digital trends and technologies, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement.Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to shape the Museum's digital vision and strategy, advocating for digital initiatives and resources.Skills, experience and qualifications Extensive experience (7+ years) in project management, product development and change management within a digital environment.Demonstrated experience in customising and implementing a new CMS, migrating core digital products to a new CMS.Overseeing the development and delivery of a new multi-channel digital experience platform that modernises the user experience and reimagines the digital visual identity.Proven track record of leading specialist and multidisciplinary professional teams and delivering innovative projects with multiple work streams.Strong understanding of contemporary and emerging digital technologies relevant to cultural institutions.Excellent leadership and management skills, including the demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and drive team performance.Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities, with the capacity to clearly articulate complex issues to diverse audiences.Demonstrated ability to shape strategic thinking and align digital initiatives with organisational objectives.Knowledge of best practices in digital content creation, user experience design and audience engagement strategies.Experience in CMS, DAMS/MAMS, CRM, ServiceNow, AV codecs, cloud/file delivery platforms and streaming services.Results-oriented mindset with a focus on achieving business and commercial outcomes.Understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, with sensitivity and effectiveness in communication.Experience in the cultural or commercial sector, particularly within a museum or cultural institution will be advantageous.To be eligible to apply for this vacancy, applicants must:
