An exciting opportunity has arisen in January 2025 for a motivated Environmental Consultant to join our well respected Environmental Management, Permitting & Compliance team from our established Newcastle office.
Articulate, motivated and reliable, you will have r ecently graduated or hold up to 3 years' experience in Environmental Consulting .
Regulatory and/or mining experience as well as an interest in auditing will be viewed favourably but is not essential.
We are looking for an individual with the right attitude and aptitude who we will provide you with training and guidance.
Our Newcastle team are fun loving, friendly and experts in the fields of Environmental Management, Compliance and Planning.
You will enjoy undertaking a range of project work whilst learning from this experienced team and developing client relationships throughout the region.
You will also collaborate on exciting projects and initiatives with the national team and other teams within our multi-disciplinary business.
You will be self-motivated, and our team will empower you to develop your skills in targeted document development, technical understanding and project management.
Responsibilities Your responsibilities will include: Building and maintaining effective relationships with our clients and internal SLR team members Compliance auditing and reporting Environmental Authority amendments Assisting with the development of environmental management plans for mining and industrial projects Assisting in the environmental monitoring across a range of areas such as surface water, groundwater, dust, traffic and more Environment management & ESG Working within multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects across a range of sectors Delivering clear and precise, high-quality reports Occasional travel to undertake field studies and short secondments opportunities may become available.
Experience To be successful in this role, you will be a positive and engaging character with a great sense of humour as well as have: A degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field Recently graduated or hold 1-3 years + experience in Environmental Science, preferably in Consulting.
The ability to work autonomously, and the drive to learn from a variety of exciting projects Working knowledge of NSW environmental legislation and policies, standards, and guidelines Experience in the mining, infrastructure, power and/or agribusiness sectors is highly valued but not a prerequisite.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills Experience with consulting software and intermediate-advanced excel skills.
Australian Citizenship or rights to work in Australia.
A valid NSW Drivers License.
