The National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) is Australia's independent expert regulator for health and safety, structural integrity, well integrity and environmental management for all offshore energy operations and greenhouse gas storage activities in Commonwealth waters, and in coastal waters where regulatory powers and functions have been conferred.
NOPSEMA also administers the functions of the Offshore Infrastructure Regulator (OIR), for the offshore renewables industry.
This includes the regulation of work health and safety, infrastructure integrity, and environmental management for offshore renewable energy infrastructure activities.

NOPSEMA is immediately recruiting a full-time Environment Officer, within the Geophysical Survey and Installation Team, in the Regulatory Operations Division at its Perth office.

This opportunity will allow you to apply your experience, contribute to multidisciplinary team assessments and support NOPSEMA undertake inspection activities.
The role will contribute to the assessment of Environment Plans for marine seismic surveys and infrastructure installation, with opportunities to work across exploration, operations and decommissioning activities.

As an Environment Officer, you will support our efforts to ensure that the offshore energy industry operates in an environmentally responsible manner and will be responsible for:
Supporting the assessment of Environment Plans and Offshore Project Proposals and management plans under the Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage Act, Offshore Electricity Infrastructure Act, and advise on environmental impact assessment documents under the EPBC Act.Supporting Environment Specialists in the preparation for inspections and other assurance activities.Supporting effective regulation of the offshore energy sector, in line with relevant requirements.Supporting NOPSEMA engagements with industry and other stakeholders.
