Our State Government client is seeking to engage an ASO6 Engagement Officer on a contract for 12 months.
About the Role:
Under the broad direction of the senior director communications and engagement and working directly with the development team, the intent of this position is to:
Build trust and confidence in the Acton Waterfront project initially, and other development projects through open and two-way communication and involving the public and stakeholders wherever possible.
Create a multi-faceted communication approach that aims to make information about the Acton Waterfront and other development projects accessible and reaches all sectors of the Canberra community.
Create a sense of excitement and momentum around the Acton Waterfront and other development projects that reinforces positive public sentiment and addresses any concerns.
Identify key stakeholders in the Acton Waterfront and other development projects, and develop appropriate and effective engagement strategies.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop a communications and engagement plan for the Acton Waterfront project and any other development projects as required.
Prepare and distribute content of all communication products.
Develop a key messages document and update it fortnightly.
Coordinate briefings with stakeholders as required.
Be the first point of call for questions from stakeholders and draft responses to any community enquiries.
Ensure all communication material uses Authority branding, and is consistent with our branding guidelines and editorial style guide.
Provide notice and details to identified stakeholders on works that may impact members of the community.
Monitor, observe and report back on community and stakeholder needs, interest and sentiment about development projects.
Provide advice and recommendations about how to manage, respond to and mitigate issues.
Prepare a weekly report on project communications and engagement.
Attend project team meetings as required.
Liaise with stakeholders to keep them updated about development projects and to get feedback.
Monitor work activities to ensure awareness and mitigation of community impact.
Update Consultation Manager with stakeholder interactions
Mandatory Requirements:
Formal qualifications, or extensive work experience in communications, community engagement, public relations or journalism is highly desirable.
Completion of, or progress towards, the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) Certificate in Engagement would be well regarded.
This position does require an ACT Working with Vulnerable People Check.
