About the role
The purpose of this role is to provide strategic and organisational-wide operational leadership of research activities at RBWH. The position will also collaborate with executive interprofessional team members and other stakeholders, to develop innovative methods for delivering efficient and exemplary patient care, while achieving key performance outcomes for both the facility and Metro North Health.
In collaboration with RBWH Executive Committee, RBWH Research Council and the Executive Director of Research, Metro North, and in alignment with the Metro North Research Strategy, this role is responsible for leading the development, implementation and monitoring of the RBWH Research Operational Plan, and ensuring its alignment with the Metro North Research Strategy.
About you
This successful applicant will carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North values and the corresponding Lominger competencies:

Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Schedule 2, Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health Award) (2015) - Generic Level Statements (GLS) Nurse Grade 12 and the Queensland Health and Metro North Health's commitments and values, in achievement of the organisational goals and Domains of Practice. Facilitate practice of self and others is in accordance with code of ethics, professional standards and legislation affecting nursing practice by maintaining current knowledge and competence within scope of position. Undertake, and participate in ethical decision making in the achievement of organisational goals. Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to identify and prioritise needs accessing both material and human resources through effective negotiation and communication to achieve cost effective consumer/person centred service delivery including Business Planning Framework (BPF) application. Practice collaboratively within the interprofessional health care team to promote the safety, security and personal integrity of individuals and groups. Mandatory qualifications/professional registration/other requirements
Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as a Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Midwife. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to the commencement of employment. Whilst not mandatory, possession of a relevant post graduate qualification (i.e. Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Masters Degree) or evidence of enrolment in such a program is highly desirable. Whilst not mandatory, previous experience working in senior nursing/midwifery leadership positions is highly regarded. Whilst not mandatory, previous experience working in research and clinical positions, that require research development, project management will be highly regarded. Whilst not mandatory, a track record in leading knowledge transition, peer reviewed publications, successful grant applications, conference presentations and other research outputs/outcomes will be well regarded. Completion of, or ability to complete Good Clinical Practice training for: ethical considerations of research, clinical trials, informed consent, and research governance, as outlined by the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council is highly desirable.
