About the role Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Advertising Sales is responsible for driving and achieving omnichannel advertising revenue across the business.
Leading a dynamic team, with 6 direct reports, the role requires close collaboration with the Executive Leadership Team to deliver on both short- and long-term strategic goals.
The purpose of the role is to meet and exceed financial targets for Advertising Sales by maximising the resources at hand, whether that's people, time, or budget.
As a key member of the Executive Team, the role plays a critical part in aligning cross-functional initiatives to support Are Media's overarching objectives.
There is a focus on transformation in line with the broader Are Media Group as we evolve to becoming an omnichannel media company with strong content commerce capability.
Duties The role encompasses responsibilities which are strategic and operational, and strong leadership is required.
Develop and implement a renewed channel approach for agency and direct: develop and implement a go to market strategy for both agency and direct clients, focusing on new business and attrition, and review and align our go to markets by segment.
Enhance and develop digital and print products, refining AdTech capabilities and adapting the operating model to simplify and clarify our offerings to market.
Evolve the commercial organisation for efficiency, adapting to an evolving/volatile market, global technology platforms and agile competitors.
Determine operational enablers to help drive performance, revenue and efficiency Skills and experience 10+ years of experience in advertising sales, media, or a closely related industry, with a significant portion spent in leadership roles.
Proven track record of working in the Australian media landscape, understanding local market dynamics, client needs, and regulatory frameworks.
5+ years in senior management positions leading sales teams or departments, with demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams, drive organisational change, and achieve revenue growth targets.
Extensive experience managing relationships with high-value clients, advertising agencies, and strategic partners.
Strong experience in managing advertising sales across multiple platforms, including print, digital, social, and programmatic channels.
Hands-on experience in crafting and executing sales strategies, budgeting, and aligning departmental goals with broader business objectives.
A bachelor's degree in business, marketing, media, or a related field.
Advanced qualifications (e.g., MBA or equivalent) are highly desirable, reflecting strong commercial and leadership capabilities.
