Director, Industry Research - Water Research Laboratory Job no: 524088 Work type: full time Location: Sydney, NSW Categories: Professional Leadership The OpportunityThis role is based in the Water Research Laboratory (WRL) that is within the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering. As the Director, Industry Research you will manage the WRL's site and facilities plus project work based on the Manly Vale Campus.This is a senior management role where you will work collaboratively with the WRL Managing Director for the strategic development of the WRL that includes developing new and maintaining current strategic partnerships with industry partners and maintaining the WRL's profile and reputation within Australia and internationally. Keen business acumen is required to develop and implement the WRL business plans and manage financial budgets. You will also manage and allocate the project and facilities staff to deliver the best outcomes for the WRL. For further information about the School, please visit Skills & Experience Postgraduate qualifications in Civil or Environmental Engineering.A strong track record of successful Engineering Project Management undertaken within a high-level investigative environment.High-level experience with Engineering project financial and quality management.Experience in the negotiation and successful completion of contractual project investigations.A proven ability to supervise, develop and lead engineering investigative teams.Specialist experience in undertaking physical and numerical hydraulics laboratory investigationsA managerial understanding of the Australian water industry.Demonstrated ability to implement equal opportunity policies and programs.Demonstrated ability and capacity to direct and monitor the implementation and effectiveness of the safety management system.An understanding of and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
