A Data strategist at Thoughtworks is an experienced consultant who works with the clients to create winning data solutions that meet the client's business goals. They leverage their deep understanding of a client's ecosystem to co-create data and technology strategy aligned with the business objectives. By identifying and integrating emerging trends with Thoughtworks' unique offerings, they unlock the transformative power of data for the client organization.
This role entails a mix of advisory responsibilities in data strategy and governance, coupled with a solid delivery lead role with depth and breadth in Data Platform expertise.
Job responsibilitiesDefine a clear vision for the client enterprise to become data driven, aligned with the overall business strategy. Consulting on complex data programs, providing technical leadership and guidance as a data subject matter expert.Collaborate with executives to understand their goals and identify data-driven opportunities; as well as working with our demand teams, to seed opportunities in existing and new businesses that can benefit from data strategy and governance.Leverage your expertise in business, technology, and data to advise clients on implementing their data strategy, focusing on people, process and technology, while applying Lean/Agile methods to create an evolutionary roadmap for maximizing value from data and AI.Design and implement data governance strategy addressing security, privacy, and compliance requirements.Guide clients and teams in selecting the right data and AI tools and technologies for their needs, encompassing processing, modeling, optimization, storage, and computing.Partner with technical leadership on defining the data architecture to achieve the strategy.Collaborate with internal data scientists, engineers, analysts, and IT professionals to design and recommend scalable data architecture solutions for clients.Champion a data-driven culture within client organizations by fostering data literacy and communication of insights across all levels. This includes developing operating models, ways of working and promoting strong dataownership practices. As well as, representing Thoughtworks and data community at industry events and conferences.Create differentiated assets in data strategy and governance to take to market.Enable capability building in data strategy and governance, growing the next generation of data strategists.Job qualificationsTechnical SkillsExperience with the development and execution of data strategy across the organization, aligning data initiatives with business objectives.Experience in engaging with C-level stakeholders to influence and enable operationalization of enterprise wide data strategy.Experience with defining operating models and large scale change management programs for driving data strategy.Designing and implementing data solutions using Domain-Driven Design principles for various enterprise domains.Experience in building scalable big data architecture across various cloud providers, leveraging the various paradigms such as data as a product, federated governance et al where needed.Strong understanding and experience of tools and technologies for building and executing data management, data governance frameworks, security practices, and compliance regulations; as well as large scale data migration strategy from on-premise to cloud.Experience working with cross functional teams to enable data sharing at scale within the organization and outside.Well versed with the implementation of batch and real-time data architecture.Familiarity with MLOps and data science landscape to influence the build of right solutions to harness insights from data.Operating across verticals, this position requires a strong consulting, sales, and leadership orientation with proactive involvement.Professional SkillsYou understand the importance of stakeholder management and can easily liaise between clients and other key stakeholders throughout projects, ensuring buy-in and gaining trust along the way.You are resilient in ambiguous situations and can adapt your role to approach challenges from multiple perspectives.You don't shy away from risks or conflicts, instead you take them on and skillfully manage them.You coach, mentor and motivate others and you aspire to influence teammates to take positive action and accountability for their work.You enjoy influencing others and always advocate for technical excellence while being open to change when needed.You are a proven leader with a track record of encouraging teammates in their professional development and relationships.Cultivating strong partnerships comes naturally to you; You understand the importance of relationship building and how it can bring new opportunities to our business.Other things to knowLearning & DevelopmentThere is no one-size-fits-all career path at Thoughtworks: however you want to develop your career is entirely up to you.
