About the RoleABC Radio Darwin is seeking a producer who knows how to find a great story and use Radio to share it with an audience.We're looking for someone with the tenacity to keep calling until they track down the very best guests, who is creative in how they make stories sound on the radio, and who can engage the audience.You'll need good local knowledge, or the capacity to quickly develop it, along with an understanding of what matters to the people of Darwin.The role will involve: Producing ABC Radio Darwin's Drive Program on a contract for approximately 7-months.Provide in-studio production support and manage talk-back callers and guests.Contribute to the implementation of the Local Emergency Coverage plan and communicate with relevant stakeholders as required.Create local content that can be shared with other content teams across the ABC.About YouWe are after a team player.Someone who listens.Someone who takes a creative approach.Someone who can make great radio and do all of that on a slow news day.We are looking for someone who's proven they can make a radio show that will reach and keep a broad audience, but also extend that content on digital platforms.With the experience to hit the ground running, you'll bring: Excellent program making skills, with a proven ability to make original and engaging audio and cross platform content for target audience.Advanced editorial skills including the ability to source and analyse information and exercise sound judgement.A strong interest in and capacity to break news and produce local current affairs content.Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with people from a range of diverse backgrounds.The ABC strives for diversity and inclusion in the workplace, and to promote a culture of opportunity.Through its services the ABC seeks to represent, connect and engage with all of the Australian community.In line with our focus on diversity, applications are strongly encouraged from Indigenous Australians, people from a range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds, people with disability and LGBTIQA+ individuals.The ABC also aims to achieve a gender-balanced workforce.About the ABCThe ABC is the nation's most trusted and independent source of Australian conversations, culture, and stories.With over 4,000 employees from diverse backgrounds across over 50 locations around Australia and overseas, we are proud to create, curate and deliver high-quality content that informs, educates and entertains Australian communities.
