What you'll be doing in this role Working within the Medical Records Department, your key responsibilities will include: Timely and accurate coding of inpatient episodes in accordance with Australian Coding Standards and relevant coding authorities Participate in regular coding audits and quality improvement activities Liaise with clinicians and other health professionals to clarify and seek further clinical information for coding query purposes Respond to internal and external departmental requests for information as required
Who we're looking for
Completion of Medical Terminology and clinical coding qualification through HIMAA, OTEN or Bachelor of Health Information Management (or equivalent), with 1.5 – 2+ years of coding experience.
A minimum of 1- 2 years+ coding experience Sound knowledge and skills in clinical coding using ICD-10-AM classification system Knowledge and understanding of Australian Coding Standards and DRG assignment Previous or current experience using 3M Codefinder Well organised with the ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines Exceptional attention to detail as this role requires accurate information to be abstracted and translated Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience considerately & professionally communicating with both internal and external stakeholders Ability to work both in an unsupervised environment, and within a team setting Knowledge of private sector funding models will be highly regarded, but not essential Previous training in ICD 10-AM 12th Edition is essential
