About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced EL 1 Assistant Director of HR Operations to lead a dynamic team in delivering efficient HR services.
This role offers a fantastic opportunity to drive HR strategy, manage recruitment and payroll functions, and provide expert guidance on HR policies and compliance.
You'll collaborate closely with senior leadership and stakeholders, ensuring HR initiatives align with organisational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement HR strategies to improve operational efficiency.
Lead and mentor a small team across payroll, recruitment, HR systems, and reporting.
Provide expert advice on complex HR matters and resolve escalated queries.
Manage the relationship with the external payroll provider to ensure accurate processing.
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Prepare high-quality reports, briefings, and presentations for executive leadership.
Support the Chief People Officer with senior executive service (SES) and complex payroll processes.
Skills and Experience
Proven leadership in HR operations with experience managing diverse teams.
Strong background in payroll processing within the APS or similar environment.
Demonstrated success in stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
Experience in HR systems, reporting, and compliance.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and advise senior leaders.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or related field (AHRI accreditation desirable).
