Job Description About the role:The Civil Estimator will be responsible for preparing cost estimates for Budget and Tender submissions for our renewable and mining bids. The key duties include but are not limited to:Preparing preliminary cost estimates from plans and client requests and specificationsDeveloping spreadsheets for costing labour and materials in meeting tender requirementsPreparing tenders and proposals Identifying contract / cost options for profitable and sustainable tenders Interpreting plans and drawings to enable accurate estimating, and pricingUndertaking critical review of engineering drawingsAssisting/providing input as requested into supply and subcontract agreementsReviewing contract performance, with a view to identifying more effective contract optionsPreparing post-submission responses to client for the clarification of matters Identifying, evaluating and recommending potential contractual opportunitiesProviding input into improving policies and systems for the estimating of tenders & proposals Compiling Historical data on projects under constructionReviewing of tender project documents and estimate to compile a comprehensive list of Assumptions and QualificationsPreparing reviews and lessons learnt on unsuccessful tendersPreparing hand over packages of successful tenders to the project execution teamProviding assistance and participating during regular project commercial progress meetings. The successful applicant will have the following:Relevant Tertiary Qualification (disciplines include):Quantity SurveyingProject ManagementCivil & Construction Engineering (Diploma or Degree)Minimum of 5 years' experience in EstimatingDemonstrated knowledge of relevant work stream categories, coupled with industry exposure and critical skills abilityClear and definitive communication – written and verbalUnderstanding of the construction processCompetency in the use of Microsoft Office and all relevant in-house softwareFirst class communication and relationship building skills that continue to inspire and motivate individuals and teamsCommitment to quality and accuracy in everything you do.
