Board Member Opportunities at Left Write Hook Limited Left Write Hook Limited (LWH) is a non-profit organisation with DGR status dedicated to empowerment through a research-based creative writing and boxing program. Our vision is to create a world where survivors are heard, supported, and empowered to reclaim their stories and bodies, healing from their experiences. About Us: The creative writing and boxing program originated as a research project developed in partnership with The University of Melbourne. This initiative has been transformed into a full-length documentary set to debut at the 2024 Melbourne International Film Festival. Incorporated in late 2022, LWH has garnered support from The University of Melbourne, government bodies, philanthropic organisations, and operates as a revenue-generating entity. Governed by our inaugural founding board and led by CEO Dr. Donna Lyon, LWH is poised for future growth. Join Our Board: In anticipation of our next phase of expansion, the LWH Board is inviting applications for 2-3 additional board members, including a new chair to lead us through this exciting stage of development. These roles are voluntary. Experience and Knowledge Sought: Prior experience as a Board Member, preferably in a leadership capacity. Experience or understanding of issues related to child sexual abuse, trauma-informed care, or related fields. Familiarity with strategic planning and non-profit financial management. Knowledge of governance, compliance, and risk management within the non-profit sector. Skillsets in HR, Finance, Risk, Governance, Marketing and Fundraising are highly valued. Your Commitment: Participate in monthly board meetings, typically held at 7:30 am – 9:00am on the first Friday of each month (in-person or virtual options available). Contribute to annual strategic planning, attend the AGM, and engage in committee work as needed. Demonstrate passion for our mission and a desire to support and contribute positively. Be dependable, with the time and dedication necessary to fully commit to the role.
