Details of the offer

9 days ago, from NRMJobs Environmental Jobs
Ecology Australia is offering opportunities for recent environmental science graduates or current post-graduate students with a keen interest in botany, zoology, or aquatic ecology to apply their academic learnings in a supportive workplace setting.
Ecology Australia is the longest-running ecological consultancy in Victoria and is among the most experienced and highly regarded ecological consultancies in Australia. We work on a diverse and interesting range of projects for clients, particularly in the public sector.
We are seeking several entry-level ecology candidates to join our highly skilled team of botanists, zoologists, and aquatic ecologists. The positions are casual and include fieldwork and some office-based work.
The ideal candidates will be recent graduates or currently studying post-graduates with a passion for botany, zoology, and/or aquatic ecology, enthusiasm for fieldwork, and a desire to develop their skills in consulting and applied ecological research, with a reasonable amount of availability over spring/summer 2024/25. You will have the opportunity to work in a rewarding and stimulating environment and to assist with a diverse and interesting range of projects.
You should be prepared to work flexible hours, work away from home for periods of time (e.g., field trips of 6-10 days' duration), and travel to remote field locations throughout south-eastern Australia, but mostly within Victoria. A Victorian Driver's Licence (preferably manual) and capacity to work outdoors in remote locations are essential. Spotlighting experience and 4WD accreditation for zoology applicants would be preferred but not essential.
Position Requirements Applicants are required to have:
Relevant tertiary qualifications in environmental sciences. The ability to work well in a team environment. An ability to deal with colleagues and clients with professionalism. Conditions of Employment Ecology Australia offers a flexible work environment. The positions will involve a large component of fieldwork and may involve some office work (e.g., data entry, organising access with landholders), depending on the individual requirements of each project. The successful applicants will be expected to spend a significant proportion or in some cases all of the time in the field, often in remote locations. Some potential exists for permanent full-time or part-time roles to be offered in the future, subject to workloads and performance.
