Full time temporary opportunity for 12 months $94K - $103K per annum (dependent on experience) + superannuation About the team
The Planning & Building Services Department provides statutory services for the built environment and planning regulations within Glen Eira.
There are three teams within the Department, being:
- Statutory Building Services
- Building and Planning Customer Service Experience and Support
About the role
The Building Report and Consent Lead will assist the Statutory Building Services Coordinator (Municipal Building Surveyor) in the administration of the Building Act, Building Regulations, National Construction Code - Building Code of Australia and associated legislation and in particular assist in the efficient and effective administration of office procedures, Building Permit functions and Report and Consent applications.

Other responsibilities include:
Assisting the team with processing, checking and allocation of Report and Consent applications and building permits for compliance with the relevant Acts, Regulations, Community Local Laws and Codes applicable to those applications.
Delivering high quality customer service through prompt and professional response to telephone and counter inquiries relating to building matters and provide professional advice in accordance with organisational and department policies to Council staff, residents and external stakeholders.
Providing weekly reports on the status of Report and Consent applications for the Statutory Building Services Coordinator.
About you
You have a strong understanding of local and national building regulations and codes.
You are proactive in spotting potential issues and finding solutions that meet these requirements.
You excel in teamwork and work well with different stakeholders to achieve project goals.

The following is also required:
A Tertiary qualification in building surveying or allied building professions.
Local government or private sector experience in Building Certification or Building Control and demonstrated experience in the building surveying profession.
An ability to read and interpret building plans and specifications and assess their compliance with appropriate legislation.
An ability to explain relevant legislation as they relate to all aspects of Building Permit applications.
A current Victorian Drivers license.
