Bike Club Program Director

Children of the Valley is seeking a bicycling visionary who recognizes the impact a strong bicycling community can have for under-resourced youth to serve as the next Program Director. The Program Director is a community centered, youth advocate, and organizational leader. The Program Director develops and fulfills the vision for the program while inspiring the community to contribute to its success. The Program Director is also an organized and detail-oriented program manager who creates and refines success measures, personnel and volunteer training, and safety protocols. The Program Director reports to the Executive Director and is a member of the Children of the Valley leadership team. They are responsible for supervising and guiding the program staff and volunteers. This position manages project operations and activities designed for middle and high school students at COV bike club sites in Mount Vernon, Burlington, and Sedro-Woolley. They will also lead in curriculum development and implementation, site development, help promote bike clubs, and lead in engaging community partners to advance the program. The Program Director will manage program sites in collaboration with middle schools throughout the county and will manage a team of full-time and part-time staff. The Program Director will have an established track record of building relationships in under-resourced communities and high-need communities in general, balancing multiple projects and meeting desired outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities Project ManagementManage operations for all COV Bike Club sites in Skagit County ensuring consistent procedures, programming, student learning, and fleet operations/useRespond to the diverse needs of a portfolio of schools across multiple districts by creating and improving differentiated programming and curriculumCollaborate with the Fleet & Logistics staff to maintain organized and safe bicycle maintenance and delivery procedures and practices, including driving bicycle fleets to club locations.Oversee volunteer recruitment, training, management and engagementEvaluate and administer program data collection methods to support data-driven decision-making and program growthAdministration and Team LeadershipSupport, mentor, supervise and develop the COV bike club team (1 full-time staff) and Ride Leaders (2-3 part-time, direct service staff)Coordinate, train, and manage hiring, scheduling, contracting, and evaluating of personnelWork with the Executive Director to develop and track program budgetsReport cyclical program outcomes within Cascade Bicycle Club and to outside fundersEvent PlanningOrganize events and activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the programFacilitate and direct the team in the planning, staffing, promotion, and execution of the bike club rides, events and activitiesEnsure that event and activity goals are met in areas including but not limited to student learning outcomes, safety, and team member performanceStrategic Partnerships and Community BuildingCreate and sustain relationships with stakeholders including school district staff, community partners, and volunteersOversee outreach efforts at community and school sites to ensure student engagement in programmingDevelop and manage strategic COV partnerships to enhance project outcomes, sustainability and impactFundraising Support and Communication of PurposeCollaborate with the Development team to shape and help communicate the COV bike club vision, story, and purposeRepresent COV Bike Club to staff, volunteers, members, agencies, partners, community organizations, and the publicCollaborate with the Executive Director and the Development Department in pursuing sustainable and aligned fiscal support/sSkills and Competencies High level of collaboration, especially in regards to an ability to navigate public school systems and interact with administratorsStrong inter and intra-personal skills, and a desire to learn and grow professionallyPositive, motivating demeanor while being comfortable with uncertaintyStrong communication and organizational skills, including scheduling and managing a large field-based teamEmbodies a mission-driven attitude with conviction and confidenceInfluential with stakeholders, volunteers, donors, and communitiesCommitment to educational equityQualifications 3-5 years of experience, or equivalent combination of experience and educationProven knowledge of youth development, adult learners, group development strategies, and successful program structuresPrior people management and/or people development experienceExcellent organizational skills, ability to plan ahead, meet deadlines and goals, and manage multiple projects simultaneouslyAbility to give and receive feedback, with a desire for personal growth and developmentExperience working with youth in educational settings, especially between ages of 11 and 17Proficiency in Google/Microsoft Suite, including presentations, sheets, docs, etc.Ability to lift 25 lbs in the form of moving 10-50 bicycles to/from storage or on/off trucks and trailers frequentlyBike maintenance experience or the willingness to learn (preferred)Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekendsAbility and willingness to work outdoors occasionally during all seasonsValid WA Driver's License or the ability to obtain one and the ability to travel within WA State (majority of travel for this position is within Skagit County)Willingness to drive a towing vehicle and cargo trailer

Pay: $53,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
