Who we are Water Policy Division provides leadership and strategic policy to ensure the sustainable future of our rivers, wetlands and groundwaters, and the people who depend on them. The Division supports water reform initiatives in the Murray–Darling Basin and leads national water reform – working to future-proof Australia's water resources and provide support to First Nations in our national water story.
The Murray-Darling Basin Strategy and Policy Branch drives implementation of the Murray-Darling Basin Plan. We bring together and analyse advice, evidence and knowledge from programs, experts and all stakeholders to prepare advice for the Minister and government on the Basin. The Branch is responsible for policy advice on meeting Basin Plan water recovery targets and achieving environmental outcomes in the Basin. We are also responsible for supporting intergovernmental policy and negotiations, preparing submissions and new funding proposals, governance and oversight for the department's work in the Basin, and the division's coordination unit.
The Water Coordination section is a dynamic operational area that sits at the centre of Water Policy Division's significant policy, coordination and reporting functions. The team provides a high level of service and support to Water Policy Division. This is an opportunity for a confident, motivated and experienced officer with very good administrative and communication skills.
The Job The job involves:
Providing a high level of administrative and coordination support to Water Policy Division's executive and staff, and regularly liaising across DCCEEW's water group and with corporate areas. Managing corporate inboxes and disseminating ministerial and parliamentary documents using the Parliamentary Document Management System, and providing guidance to users. Assisting with the management of Question Time Briefs. Coordinating divisional responses to complex requests for information within requested timeframes, including requests from within the department and other agencies, and input to parliamentary, ministerial, and senior executive briefs, and to annual reporting and corporate planning processes. Coordinating large divisional briefing processes, including Senate Estimates and incoming government briefing packages. What we are looking for Knowledge and experience Experience working in busy administrative roles for the Australian Government. Proficiency with PDMS and Microsoft applications, including Teams. Skills and capabilities The ideal candidate/s will be able to well demonstrate:

Eligibility and other requirements Citizenship - to be eligible for employment with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water you must be an Australian citizen. Security Clearance - this position requires a Baseline Vetting security clearance. You will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level. Pre-employment Check - your suitability for employment will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process. This process includes a requirement to undergo and satisfy a National Police Check, referee checks, character clearance and where required a pre-employment medical assessment, specified mandatory qualification(s) validation and a probation period of 6 months.
