Details of the offer

This is a rare opportunity of a senior full-time or part-time (minimum of 3 days per week) position on a fixed 12 month contract with the Utilities Commission of the Northern Territory. 
The Commission is an independent statutory authority responsible for economic regulation of the electricity, ports, and water and sewerage industries in the Territory. The Commission also provides independent advice to government as appropriate. Commission staff, seconded from the Department of Treasury and Finance, support the Commission in its primary objective of protecting the long-term interests of Territory consumers of services provided by regulated industries regarding price, reliability and quality.

The Assistant Director Utilities Commission is responsible for:
1. Leading and managing research and critical analysis of complex and non-complex matters.
2. Developing and communicating accurate, clear, concise and evidence-based solutions, advice and reporting to the Commission, and stakeholders, regarding complex and non-complex matters.
3. Establishing, building and maintaining appropriate, professional and productive relationships with senior industry and government, and other relevant stakeholders.
4. Leading and managing the planning and execution of major reviews and multifaceted projects, including the management of budget and other resources, such as expert consultants.
5. Providing support to, supervising and developing, and assisting in the management and leadership of other team members.
6. Assisting the Director in managing the administration of the Commission and Commission office, and act as a proxy for the Director as required.
