The role This is a rare opportunity to join our Executive Leadership team and play a key role in supporting accountability and continuous improvement in the public sector through an informed Parliament and community. The position will lead and direct Technical and Audit Support providing accounting, audit, and governance technical advice, assist in the development of advice and submissions to standard setting bodies, and support audit quality across audit teams.
We are seeking a leader with the skills and impetus to:
be a member of the Executive Management Group, participating in the development and implementation of strategies, policies, and practices, particularly as they apply to audit and related products.develop and communicate, audit policy, auditing, accounting and financial reporting standards to the whole of office.enhance financial and key performance indicator reporting in the public sector.be accountable for the management of their team, ensuring achievement of corporate objectives.Who we are seeking You are collaborative; enjoy working in an innovative environment; and a problem solver by nature. Your skills and experience for success include:
provide direction and leadership across business units, to ensure activities are consistent with the Auditor General's vision, support the achievement of agreed objectives and demonstrate best practice.lead executive awareness and manage the business unit's resources, to anticipate trends and issues concerning the core functions of the business unit and the Office.initiates appropriate action for issues affecting the independence of the Auditor General.coach and motivate attest audit staff in the purposeful discharge of the audit mandate.oversee the development and maintenance of relevant professional standards and the delivery of accountabilities across the Office.provide technical advice and support to OAG business units and Public Sector entities on audit systems and related policies and governance issues.undertake high level liaison, consultation and negotiation with stakeholders including Parliamentarians, other local, State and Federal entities, professional bodies, and the private sector, to advance OAG services, remain informed on relevant strategic issues and keep abreast of audit and evaluation industry developments and directions.How to apply Applications must be made online via  . This position will be offered a five-year fixed term contract, with an option to renew.
