This position reports to:

Your role and responsibilities:
ABB is establishing a new manufacturing facility in Maryborough, on the Fraser Coast of QLD to service the QTMP project. Establishing the Motors production stream is a vital step in setting this facility up for success. If you have Manufacturing experience, with the ability to direct and participate in the production of traction motors, then you are encouraged to apply. Training will be given to the right candidate, allowing you to take ABB worldwide best practice and implement it locally.
Reporting to the Production Manager Motors, this position will be based in the Fraser Coast of QLD, Australia.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to ensure safe, efficient and cost-effective production results. You will lead by example within the Assembly team, providing guidance, training, and oversight for the task of manufacturing and testing Traction Motors. Team members will look to you for direction and input, and you will be relied upon to ensure the assembly is completed safely, on time, and meeting quality standards. Your expertise will be critical in establishing and maintaining a production line of the highest standards, consistent with ABB-best practice. You will be a good communicator within the local assembly team and the greater ABB community.

Planned Commencement Date: 15 January 2025
You will be mainly accountable for:
Assembling electric motors and performing testing of the manufactured motors based on technical, assembly, and design documentation and specifications, as well as coordinating the work of assembly workers allocated to the subordinate production area.
Checking the completed assembly work for compliance with technical, assembly, connection, and design documentation, and supervising and delegating employees to work related to correcting assembly errors.
Conducting training on the product and associated assembly processes for employees allocated to the subordinate production area, including acting as a 'mentor' for newly hired assembly workers.
Continuously striving to achieve health and safety goals by motivating the entire team to actively participate in the 'SOT – Sustainability Observation Tour' process, thereby delivering products safely and sustainably, on time, and with high quality, resulting in decreasing product field failure rates.
You will join a growing team in the exciting stages of setting up a new production line. This is your opportunity to lead the production effort and ensure safe, reliable delivery of traction motors.
Qualifications For The Role:
Minimum 5 years of experience as a team leader or senior assembler in manufacturing rotating machines or similar critical mechanical equipment, with responsibilities including coordinating employee work.
Preferably holds Certificate II in Electrotechnology.
Technical expertise in mechanics, electrics, and/or automation, with demonstrated proficiency in interpreting technical documents, including mechanical and electrical drawings.
Strong manual and analytical skills, along with the ability to effectively transfer knowledge.
Excellent aptitude for working in a team environment and leading people, including planning, delegating, implementing, supervising, motivating, and evaluating tasks.
Qualifications for operating cranes, jib cranes, platforms, and driving forklifts.
A 'Can-Do' attitude and willingness to be flexible to get the job done while enjoying a fast-paced working environment with multiple parallel activities.
