Overview: We currently have an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic Trainee Analyst/Analyst to join our busy Inorganics Department.
Element Deeside is the largest analytical chemistry laboratory within the Element Group and the market leading UK laboratory undertaking the testing of soils, waters, wastes, oils, NAPLs, ambient air, soil vapours and gases from all over the world.
The laboratory undertakes high volume routine analysis as well as offering bespoke method development, technical support and hydrocarbon forensic interpretations to enhance the support we can deliver.
The laboratory has an international reputation for service excellence and supports clients that require a higher level of technical expertise, reliability in data quality and seamless project management from sample collection to timely delivery of data in the format of choice.
Responsibilities: Preparing and analysing routine and non-routine samples using the following techniques: IC, CVAF, UV-Vis, and general wet chemistry.
Performing routine instrument calibration and maintenance.
Method development and troubleshooting supported by the Inorganics Manager.
Reporting of results using LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).
Maintaining accurate records in accordance with internal and external quality systems.
Ad hoc duties as required.
Skills / Qualifications: Degree qualification in Chemistry or a Chemistry related subject would be preferential.
A 'levels in Chemistry and other science or maths subjects.
Experience within a commercial analytical laboratory would be advantageous.
Alternative qualifications will be considered depending on relevant equivalent experience.
A highly motivated and organised individual, who is a team player.
A positive attitude.
Excellent attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and adhere to deadlines.
