About the role Sport NSW has an ambitious advocacy agenda.
The Sport NSW Advocacy and Communications Manager role is a one-year fixed term role (possibility to extend) that will provide support to the CEO to develop policy, maintain frequent contact with key government and stakeholder representatives to advance awareness and knowledge of core policy issues. and enhance communications channels.
The role suits an experienced advocacy/communications professional that is seeking part-time, flexible, hybrid work arrangements.

Key Areas of Responsibility Duties / Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
• In consultation with the CEO, prepare and draft policy platforms that advance the interests of Sport in NSW within government.
• Proactively use skills, networks and experience to engage state members of parliament across a range of portfolios.
• Maintain Government contact lists
• Create and develop a Government Policy Advisory Network with representatives from State Sporting Organisations to ensure policy is aligned.
• Draft submissions to Government as required
• Be able to identify funding opportunities and assist in preparation of funding applications.
• Draft content to be used in media releases, stakeholder communications and social media posts
• Editing of publications.
Key Relationships This position involves internal and external communication with Sport NSW staff, members and stakeholders including NSW Government, State Sporting Organisations, State Sporting Organisations for People with Disability, preferred suppliers, and other industry bodies.
Reporting The position reports to the CEO.
Selection Criteria In addition to demonstrating relevant experience across the Key Areas of Responsibility identified above, candidates applying for the role will require a range of personal and professional skills, including:

• Can do attitude
• Experience writing policy platforms and interacting with Government;
• Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills;
• Experience in writing for different communications channels;
• Experience working within a team and the ability and confidence to work with a range of stakeholders at all levels;
• Ability to work autonomously and demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects with competing deadlines.
Desirable
• A knowledge of the NSW and Australian sports sector structure and the various stakeholders' roles in sport;
• Experience preparing reports and external communications;
• A background in a membership-based organisation, a sporting organisation, Government, or professional association;
Location Sport NSW is a hybrid workplace with agreed days in the office. When in the office, the position is based in the Sport NSW Office at Sports House – Level 2, Quad 1, 8 Parkview Drive, Sydney Olympic Park.
Position and Hours of Work Sport NSW is a flexible workplace and we welcome applicants with varying needs to apply and arrangements will be discussed as required.
The role will require some infrequent out of hours and weekend work.
Remuneration A remuneration package will be disused with the candidates selected for interview and will be based on skill level and experience and agreed number of hours/days per week.
