As an Advisor in the Policy Branch, you will be responsible for the design, health, accessibility and use of APRA's policy and supervisory frameworks. This role requires big picture thinking, strong analytical skills, and the capacity to lead large projects.
Success in this role will mean engaging with external stakeholders and collaborating with APRA policymakers, risk specialists, legal advisors and supervisors to ensure that expectations of regulated banks, insurers and superannuation funds are cohesive and fit-for-purpose. These expectations (whether legal requirements or guidance) need to be easy to understand and apply - for APRA's supervisors, and the entities they supervise.
The team Policy is a core function of APRA, responsible for developing new prudential standards and guidance on emerging risks; and refining existing policy and supervision frameworks, to ensure that they continue to be effective.
Policy collaborates with a wide range of stakeholders internally and externally (incl. with Government departments, other regulatory agencies, industry associations and regulated entities in financial services).
Driving ongoing enhancement, maintenance, and quality assurance of APRA's policy requirements and supervision frameworks.Providing advice and assistance to internal and external stakeholders on matters relating to APRA's policy and supervision frameworks and processes.Coordinating central activities, such as regular business and risk reporting, and executive and government briefings.About you A strong understanding of, and experience in, the development and application of public policy and/or supervisory practice at a regulator.Good judgment, strategic awareness, and the ability to operate with autonomy.Ability to identify opportunities and develop solutions, with excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.Ability to influence, drive progress, and foster good relationships with stakeholders.Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.Strong prioritisation and project management skills, able to keep large projects on track.A team player with a positive and constructive mindset.To work with us, you need to be an Australian citizen with eligibility to gain a Baseline Security clearance.
