We are passionate about our focus in providing education and employment opportunities.About the Role:The Waalitj Foundation is looking for a Youth Mentor based in Broome to make a positive impact in the lives of young offenders. The Youth Mentor position will be required to work in partnership with HOPE Community Services and Youth Justice staff in the region. The program operates on a referral basis from the Department of Justice and takes an individual case management approach to reintegration. The program is designed to meet the unique needs of young people involved with the criminal justice system on both community-based orders and/or subject to bail orders.The successful applicant will have the opportunity to build upon partnerships within the community and run programs, workshops, meetings, and mentor the participants in a one-on-one setting and will work individually with participants and their families for an extended period.The role offers extensive training opportunities and support to the successful applicant.This is a full-time position under a fixed term contract.About You:To be suitable for this role you will need to demonstrate the following work-related requirements and experience:Demonstrated experience in the provision of mentoring support and assistance to participants with complex needs.Experience working with justice clients or within justice services/custodial settings is an advantage.Ability to gather data and complete reporting requirements to meet quality assurance and contractual obligations.Ability to work collaboratively with consortium partners and/or other community organisations and support services.Tradesperson background (desirable).Horticultural background (desirable).Department of Justice and Police Clearances (or ability to obtain).Current Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain).C Class Driver's Licence.What We Offer You:9 Day fortnight.An attractive salary including Salary Packaging.Company car available for use.A friendly and supportive work environment.Please note this is an Identified Position for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Applicants only.Please apply with a Cover Letter and Resume addressing the work-related requirements by 5pm on Friday, 22 November 2024.NB: Shortlisting can occur prior to closing date.
