THE ROLE
The position's primary purpose is to ensure a smooth and efficient execution of the workshop servicing and maintenance program. This role is for a Foreman, supervisor or leading hand who possesses people management, communication and organisational skills with a willingness to accept responsibility and accountability for the rosters, schedules, planning of work orders and jobs across the workshops, using your previous knowledge and experience. To upskill and support workshop staff to achieve the most desirable outcome with the fastest turnaround time.
Ideally suited for someone who has successfully managed a vehicle workshop supporting prime movers, rigid, and trailing equipment, with a passion for safety and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Coordination of maintenance, servicing, and repairs of the fleet and trailing equipment.
Overseeing the workshop staff daily and ensure the work completed by the staff meets company standards.
Training and upskilling workshop staff.
Facilitation of work plans and job orders with the mechanics, delegation of tasks.
Assisting and diagnosing faults with workshop staff.
Ensure prompt repairs by responding to emergency breakdowns.
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders for the service of the equipment.
Ensure maintenance jobs are in accordance with company policy and industry guidelines.
Manage workforce in accordance to the work schedule and weekend/weekday roster.
View vehicle defects sheet, determine urgency and allocate work accordingly.
The Job Requirements
To be considered and successful in this role, it is essential applicants have:
Proven supervisory and leadership experience.
Trade Qualification Certificate in Diesel Mechanics.
Previous experience in a similar role.
Proficiency in general mechanics and vehicle maintenance including trailing equipment.
Excellent time management, organisational and communication skills.
Basic computer literacy, MS Excel, MS Word, Outlook.
Ability to handle pressure and meet strict deadlines.
Possess a flexible and adaptable attitude.
Strong commitment to all safety policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
MC Driver's License preferred
