AO4 Workplace Health & Safety Officer

Initial 3-month contract + possible extension
Rate: $54.34 + super per hour
Location: Queensland Government, Brisbane CBD
The Role
Work closely with the WHS Manager by implementing and monitoring state-wide WHS matters within a diverse team of building, construction and maintenance field and office staff.
Duties Include:
Interpret WHS legislation, including relevant legislation, Codes of Practice, Australian Standards / International Standards.
Conduct site WHS&E audits and inspections to ensure both client and contract workers are adhering to WHS legislation and make recommendations to improve on-site safety.
Provide WHS advice on technical matters relating to the building, construction, and maintenance industry, particularly in the development of WHS system and processes.
Assist with the development, review, and implementation of Baseline SWMSs and other risk assessments.
Assist with reporting and investigating WHS&E incidents and contractor notifiable incidents.
Support return-to-work activities including reviewing and developing suitable duties plans.
You
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 12 months demonstrated WH&S experience. You will be able to demonstrate the following:
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Proven experience in a workplace health and safety role.
Strong administration skills.
Excellent communication skills.
