Position Details - Workplace Health and Safety Officer
Location - Mackay or Proserpine
Salary - $85,000 - $105,000 p.a. (Pro rata for Part time)
Position Overview We are seeking a motivated WHS Officer to oversee and maintain the Health and Safety Management Systems of Reef Catchments (MWI) Limited.
You will develop and implement Workplace Health and Safety Plans, policies and procedures, as well as supporting safety management systems, framework and records. You will be responsible for reviewing Risk Assessments and developing risk assessment tools and controls.
Your experience will also be utilised with the auditing of procedures and documents as required. You will be required to conduct site inspections across our region.
You will contribute to our team growth and project success by providing training to our team and maintain training records. This role can be undertaken in a full-time or part-time capacity (minimum 22.8 hours per week, school hours available).
Position relationships – Who you will be working with This role will work with all teams within Reef Catchments, reporting to the CEO. You will work closely with our Health and Safety Representative (HSR) and project staff to minimise the risks involved in the organisation's operations. You will be working collaboratively with the Senior Leadership team and Managers, providing advice, training, improvement and mentoring regarding proactive safety management and solutions.
About You We are seeking an experienced, highly organised Workplace Health and Safety Officer who has a strong knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety practices and legislation. You will need to be a strong communicator who will promote continuous improvement in the workplace and create a safety focused culture. You will also be required to initiate, recommend and provide solutions to the Senior Leadership team when issues are identified.

Certificate IV or higher in Work Health and Safety5+ years' professional experience in workplace health and safety services provision – preferably in Queensland.High-level interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships and influence positive safety outcomes.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong organisational and time management skills.Experience in conducting risk assessments and incident investigations.Experience in WHS management within a multidisciplinary organisation.Ability to analyse safety performance data, incident and risk trends.Knowledge of contemporary WHS practices and legislation.Demonstrated ability to develop and implement WHS procedures and training programs.A hands-on approach to service delivery with experience in leading by example in operational and on-ground project areas.Civil construction knowledge and experience (desirable)Queensland white card (desirable)How to Apply 1.
