How will I help? As a Credit Officer in WIB, you will be a key member of the wider Energy, Infrastructure, and Resources (EIR) Credit team and be responsible for credit risk approval and management of a portfolio of Institutional Infrastructure and Utilities related clients.
This also includes Project Finance and Acquisition Finance related transactions. Reporting into the Head of Energy, Infrastructure, and Resources Credit, you will support the Financial Markets and Product teams in the approval of as well as management of credit risk arising from trading and structured products.
Further key objectives include: Demonstrate prudent and clear judgment in the assessment and management of the credit risks within the business, including the early recognition of problem loans and implementation of remediation plans. Adopt a continuous improvement policy to build the Westpac brand leadership in the market. Contribute to the strategic positioning of WIB to ensure that credit strategies and policies are appropriately aligned with business units' objectives. Contribute to the development of a sound credit culture within the business. Work closely with the business to optimise risk utilisation and maximise returns to the bank within risk appetite. What do I need? To be successful in this role, you must be a highly experienced Institutional/Transactional Banking Credit Analysis/Risk professional with demonstrable experience and knowledge from the Energy, Industrials, and Resources sectors.
Key Credit analysis industry experience includes: Energy (i.e. Utilities, Distribution, Transmission and Renewable assets) Infrastructure (i.e. PPPs, REZ, Airports, Ports, Rail, Digital Infra Assets, and Infrastructure Funds, etc.) Financial market transactions Natural Resources (i.e. Metals and Mining, Oil & Gas, Mining Services, etc.) Key soft skills include: Ability to act independently, think innovatively, solve problems, and exhibit a collaborative growth mindset. Superior communication skills, excellent negotiating and influencing skills, and a commercial mindset to appropriately balance risk and return objectives. Practical knowledge of legal documentation (term sheets, ISDAs). Further preferred experiences and qualifications include: Previous delegated authority to approve credit risk within the infrastructure-related sectors, including project finance and acquisition finance products.
