Selection CriteriaSC1. Experience in the delivery of student wellbeing and support services in a school setting.SC2. Demonstrated experience in developing effective relationships with local and state departments and community agencies and other service providers and a proven record for their provision in a school.SC3. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and to develop positive relationships with parents, students, management and staff.SC4. A demonstrated capacity to plan, implement and evaluate intervention programs to support student wellbeing.SC5. Demonstrated ability to promote the safety and wellbeing of all students in line with the Child Safe Standards.RoleDUTIES OF THE ROLE
Respond to referrals and instances of student distress, providing generalist support and counselling, crisis management, risk assessment for suicide/self-harm, co-regulation and advocacy.Implement/facilitate/encourage a diverse range of support for mental health, social skills, regulation and counselling.Make referrals to external services such as Navigator, approved alternate settings and to medical & mental health professionals.Support students in out of home care.Work collaboratively to support students with school refusal/disengagement, poor connectedness.Contribute to student case management process.Create case notes and document information in accordance with privacy law, DET requirements and the school's internal processes including contribution to incident logs and PROTECT documentation.Support whole school events and schoolwide awareness days and groups.Support the creation of student support plans and contribute to behaviour support plans.Attend and contribute to SSGs, case management & Sub school meetings as required, assisting to identify students at risk or facing difficulties with mental health, resilience, behaviour, engagement and attendance and developing interventions and strategies.Support the school wide mandatory notification responsibilities; making reports to child protection, police, KESO and the (DET) incident support and operations center.Communicate with staff, leadership and families regarding students, including providing secondary consultation.Understand and comply with Family Violence Reforms (MARAM).Support applications for Disability Inclusion Profile funding for students engaging in Wellbeing team support by information gathering and strategy sharing.ResponsibilitiesThe successful applicant will work as part of the College Wellbeing Team, providing trauma-informed support to students with a range of issues. You will need to engage with the young person in order to identify their needs (e.g. counselling, practical support, referral to external agencies, etc) and liaise with College staff, families and professionals.
Provide assistance to various teams within the College in enhancing social skills amongst our students and promoting student resilience.
Who May ApplyQUALIFICATIONS Applicants will need to have a suitable professional qualification in the provision of student support services that will relate to a secondary school setting.
