Are you a Welder/Fabricator looking to work in a dynamic and creative environment? Expressway Signs is looking for a skilled professional to join our team, with flexible employment options to suit your availability.As a Welder/Fabricator at Expressway Signs, you will be responsible for crafting high-quality structures used in the signage industry. This includes creating durable and visually appealing components such as sign bases, structural frames, and lightboxes. Precision welding and a commitment to maintaining our high standards are essential to this role.We offer three employment options to suit your availability and skills:Full-time positions combine welding with additional responsibilities such as installation and spray painting when welding tasks are not required.Part-time roles include welding and installation work, offering a balanced schedule.Casual positions are available for those who prefer on-call welding work based on project needs.In this role, you will:Deburr sharp metal edges and ensure all components are safe and precise.Determine metals, welding methods, and job particulars when not pre-planned.Read architectural shop drawings and sketches, applying mathematics to meet specifications.Select, position, align, and secure parts or fixtures for welding.Perform MIG welding on aluminium, steel, and other materials.Use tools such as saws, angle grinders, table saws, and hydraulic shears to cut, grind, and prepare materials.Maintain accuracy, efficiency, and safety in all tasks.Keep work areas clean and organised to support productivity.We are seeking candidates with:Proven welding experience (2-5 years preferred).Expertise in fabricating steel and aluminium structures, with experience in the signage industry being a plus.Proficiency in using tools such as saws, angle grinders, and hydraulic shears.The ability to accurately read architectural shop drawings and measure materials to reduce waste.Able to meet the physical demands of this welding work – lifting up to 25kgs, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, walking and standing.Willingness to work extended hours if the need arises.A strong commitment to attention to detail and high-quality workmanship.Expressway Signs has been a trusted leader in signage and printing solutions for over 50 years, serving Far North Queensland and Papua New Guinea.
