Volunteer Coordination & Support (Community Services & Development)Hummingbird House is Queensland's only children's hospice, and one of only three children's hospices in Australia. We provide specialised paediatric palliative care services to babies, children and young people with a life-limiting condition, helping them make every moment precious when life is short.Since 2016, Hummingbird House has welcomed hundreds of families from right across Queensland into our warm embrace. Our vision is to be here for every eligible family that needs us, and ensure they are connected to a community that knows how to care for them; in life, death and bereavement.About the RoleAs a Volunteer Coordinator you are responsible for the coordination and growth of volunteer support services for Hummingbird House.Coordination and enhancement of the volunteer program including volunteer recruitment and programs in line with the child/ guest and family-centered model of care provided at Hummingbird House.Grow the volunteer cohort at Hummingbird House.Provide a point of communication, engagement, and coordination for volunteers at Hummingbird House.Implement recognition practices to support volunteer retention strategies.Responsibility for coordination of allocated budgets and regular financial reporting for volunteers.Compliance with all Workplace Health & Safety requirements including completing risk assessments and coordinating activities, volunteer staffing in line with organisational requirements.About YouDemonstrated capacity to lead, coordinate, recruit & supervise volunteers or staff.Ability to engage community stakeholders, networks, and community organisations both in house and in community.Track record of growing programs.Demonstrated application of working collaboratively and within professional and ethical boundaries in complex situations as part of a multi-disciplinary team.Understanding and commitment to the Principles of Volunteering, and the Code of Practice for Organisations Involving Volunteer Staff.Understanding and commitment to the principles of continuous quality improvement.Effective PC skills including MS Office and other related applications packages (including reporting).Demonstrated experience in palliative care and end of life care, disability, education, or family support work contexts.What makes a difference for us:NDIS Worker Screening Clearance held before commencing.NDIS Worker Orientation Module 'Quality, Safety and You' completed before starting.Willingness to work within the philosophy and policies of Hummingbird House, Wesley Mission Queensland and The Uniting Church in Australia.Proof of Vaccination Status as required by Legislation, Health Directives or WMQ Policy throughout employment and prior to commencement.Current Driver's Licence and willingness to drive in the course of work.Why Join UsWe value diversity, strive for inclusion, and come together to walk alongside those in need to provide hope and compassion.
