Visiting Medical OfficerGeneral PractitionerBoorowa Multipurpose Service The Local Health DistrictMurrumbidgee LHD covers almost 125,243 km². We provide public health services to approximately 243,228 people across the Riverina, Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area and the South Western Slopes of NSW.
As the largest employer in the region, we have over 5000 healthcare staff working across 33 hospitals and 12 primary healthcare centres.
Where you'll be working Boorowa, a gorgeous country town on the South West Slopes of New South Wales, is rich in Irish heritage and pastoral history and provides a great base to explore the cellar doors of the surrounding Hilltops wine region.
Our Health Service is a small 18 bed Multipurpose Service with 12 residential aged care beds, 6 acute care beds and a 24-hour Accident and Emergency Department equipped with telehealth cameras. We also offer a range of community health services including Community Nursing, Child and Family, Allied Health, Diabetes Education and Women's Health.
What you'll be doing The GP VMO will provide contemporary comprehensive and professional specialist services in General Practice that are safe, effective, evidence-based and patient-centered.
Requirements of the role include: Admitting, consultative, diagnostic, procedural, outpatient, telehealth and on-call services as determined and required by MLHD.Attendance and availability during rostered work hours and whilst on-call including clinical handover, clinical supervision, teaching and for emergency and routine care as determined and required by MLHD.The provision of education and support to clinicians across multiple disciplines to achieve quality education and safe clinical practice.A primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of the RACGP/ACRRM/RACP and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.Minimum three (3) years post-graduate clinical experience. Previous experience in Emergency Medicine, General Practice, Adult Internal Medicine, Paediatrics or Rural Medicine is an advantage.Knowledge of contemporary clinical management and modern approaches in assessment and management of the broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions. Competence in performing the range of minor urgent procedures commonly undertaken in a rural emergency department including Advanced Life Support and Trauma management.Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, and research and quality improvement.Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.Demonstrated commitment to behaviours which align to the NSW Health CORE values and MLHD Values, goals and strategies.Need more information?1) Click here for the Position DescriptionFor role related queries or questions contact Nicole Summers on ******
