Permanent Full Time - 38 hours Salary: Band 5 - $75,511 – $87,624 + superannuation *Role includes an RDO Hobsons Bay City Council is seeking an enthusiastic Urban Planner to join the motivated and supportive Statutory Planning team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing a wide variety of planning permit applications, and managing future development in Hobsons Bay to achieve positive outcomes for the community.
What you'll be working on Process planning permit applications within the statutory framework of planning legislation including - the assessment of planning permit applications providing general planning advice to applicants and residents preparing submissions and represent Council before the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal and Council's Delegated Planning Committee Engage in innovative, flexible and efficient decision-making on all statutory planning applications to provide a quality outcome for the community Provide advice to staff, the community and developers in both written and verbal form Participate in implementation of the department's Continuous Improvement initiatives Other duties as directed by the Coordinator Statutory Planning, Manager Planning, Building and Health Services or Director Sustainable Communities.
What you need to succeed A tertiary qualification in Statutory Planning or a related discipline A current Victorian driver's license A solid understanding of Statutory Planning legislation, the planning framework and planning principles as they operated in Victoria Ability to manage time and competing priorities to achieve desired results Well-developed written skills, in both correspondence and report writing, together with excellent verbal presentation Ability to develop good working relationships with staff, public and the Council Confidence in dealing with customers, including difficult customers, at the counter, by phone and in writing in an open environment and in a clear and pleasant manner Well-developed investigative, analytical and flexible problem solving skills A demonstrated focus on exceptional customer service, with an aim to exceed the expectation of the customer An aptitude for detail, accuracy and thoroughness in work undertaken Ability to work within a team, and provide direction to other members of the team as well as working with limited supervision Why you should apply This is a great opportunity for someone to work on projects that will really shape the fabric of Hobsons Bay.
