Job Description Underwriting Manager, Casualty Brooklyn Sydney, NSW
Manages all aspects of the underwriting operations within the central region in accordance with corporate and divisional guidelines. This includes but is not limited to portfolio profitability, account pricing, portfolio rate change, renewal retention, marketing, new business production, development of staff and broker and client management. The role holder will manage all staff and an underwriting territory that includes business product in several locations.
Essential Responsibilities: Execute departmental strategy and achieve P&L metrics including verification of appropriate risk premium calculations to ensure profitability.Effective relationship management with clients and broker partners initiating opportunities for cross-selling offered products and ensuring account retention.Manage insured and producer relationships across a large geographical territory.Maintain visibility in the market by effectively marketing to insureds and brokers.Ensure client satisfaction as it relates to fulfillment of their insurance requirements.In coordination with other internal teams, determine appropriate reinsurance for risk placements.Leadership responsibilities - Lead and develop a team of Underwriters and Assistant Underwriters.Operational responsibilities - Oversight on submissions including applications, policy wording, inspection reports, loss runs, and financial reports. Controlling timely implementation of new and renewed accounts according to quality standards. Reviewing loss control reports and managing policy endorsement requests to process any necessary changes to the policy.You will report to the Head of Brooklyn.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree preferred and equivalent experience in policy development and broker management.Knowledge of functionality of systems including strong technical skills with Microsoft Office and other relevant systems.Ability to respond to a changing environment with flexibility and innovations.Ability to lead in accordance with AXA XL core values and culture.Leadership - Guide and influence others into a direction or decision that empowers them.Marketing - Effectively plan for sales and business development.Negotiation/Sales - Plan, structure and conduct negotiations with brokers and/or clients.Interpersonal Savvy – Build excellent interpersonal relationships with brokers, clients & colleagues.Industry Knowledge - Understanding of the insurance industry and specific product portfolios.Strategy/Planning - Make underwriting decisions to fulfill business strategic plan and deliver results.Analytical Skills - Visualize, gather information, articulate, analyze and solve complex problems.Location: AU-NSW-Sydney
