We're seeking a Traffic Control Room Officer to work in our busy control room to redirect traffic flow, coordinate response teams, and relay critical info to keep our roads safe, all while remaining naturally composed and alert at all times.
You'll join an innovative team, who tirelessly monitor the flow of the traffic with an eagle eye and respond with lightning speed in the event of incidents, both big and small.

Day-to-day, you will: Work with different control systems to monitor and manage traffic on both open roads and in tunnels. Get to know Automated Height Detectors, Road Management systems, CCTV, and Automatic Incident Detection Systems like the back of your hand. Work collaboratively with field staff, Emergency Services, and your team to act swiftly in response to incidents to contain events and keep everyone safe. Create Incident Management and Traffic Management plans to ensure our roads run more efficiently and safely when things don't go to plan. Drive improvements in processes and traffic management, making recommendations based on your observations. Collate real-time info on road conditions for stakeholders, the media, and customers. Understand the importance of rigorous knowledge of traffic management policies, practices, and procedures, including operational systems. Work across multiple assets as needed to meet business requirements. This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including: Experience in a monitoring centre or operational environment; particularly supported incident management or emergency response is highly regarded. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and analytical tools; fascinated with new technology and systems. Driven, resilient, and efficient, showing confidence and professionalism no matter how challenging the situation is. Organised, efficient, and decisive in prioritising tasks while juggling multiple responsibilities. Experience in writing incident reports and knowing which important details to include for smooth operations. Experience with shift work; our roads are open 24/7.
