Job Description
This position is responsible for the day-to-day trading and managing of commodity positions. The position will have accountability for identifying profitable trading opportunities in the market based on information gathered from the physical trading operations of the business. Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure that overall macro commodity strategies are formulated and executed efficiently to outperform budgeted profit targets. Work with all business units to ensure the maximisation of synergies leading to optimal company results with focus on integration and whole of business margin decision making.
Daily activities include but are not limited to:
Uphold a responsible pricing and execution role within the LDC trading team with a particular focus on domestic delivered markets across all approved commodities and trading regions. In conjunction with the trading manager and other commodity traders ensure that overall commodity strategies are priced and executed efficiently. Ensure execution and pricing of commodity strategies based on 'best value execution' methodology under defined contract terms and conditions. Ensure all trading execution policy and procedures are adhered to under company DOA and direct reporting. Formulate and trade identified strategies in line with divisional and company directives. Ensure reconciliation of delegated commodity position, risk, and pricing limits. Accumulate pricing and market information for Australian markets daily. Contribute to daily/weekly Australian balance sheet analysis to develop strategy.Apply problem management process on recurring incidents; perform root cause analysis and workaround fixes. In consultation with Marketing Team, maximise merchandising opportunities with particular focus on domestic customers. Build and manage working relationships with defined key strategic domestic customers acting as account manager where required. Support LDC regional teams to deliver added value to LDC and its customers through the provision of innovative and flexible grain marketing solutions. Assist with daily pricing and marketing material provided to grower and end-user customers. Work closely with logistics and SCO teams to identify and maximise quality and freight arbitrage opportunities to achieve synergy targets set for the integrated LDC business. Uphold a leadership role in maintaining clear communication between trading, marketing, logistics and SCO teams to clearly prioritise LDC pipeline methodology. Experience To be successful in the role, you may have:
Degree in relevant discipline is preferred. Appropriate market licensing and certification where applicable. Substantial experience working in commodity markets. Understanding of commodity trading and accounting systems. Excellent communicator (verbal and written), with the ability to communicate complex, sensitive and contentious information. Effective planning and organisational skills with a focus on attention to critical detail Co-operative and supportive team player. Ability to successfully influence and support multiple stakeholders. Ability to work autonomously and flexibly - proactive and self-motivated. Ability to develop cross-functional relationships within the business and industry.
