Position Purpose: The primary objective is to assist qualified welders/fabricators and processing so all jobs are manufactured, assembled, and made ready for delivery to the client in order of priority and to a satisfactory quality level.
Key Responsibilities: Operating the Overhead crane & Forklift Assisting in cleaning up work sites and setting up work areas Operating simple machinery and using power tools Cleaning, preparing, and maintaining work sites and tools Performing assigned duties independently Ensuring tools and equipment are stored safely Adhering to workplace health and safety guidelines Attending and participating in meetings as required Ensuring management is appropriately informed of area activities and any significant problems Performing materials delivery and pickups using the business vehicle as required Learning and applying fire suppression measures in case of emergencies Performing all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures Required Skills: Experience with steel and an understanding of different types of profiles (preferred) Use of hand tools such as a tape measure and grinder (preferred) Operating gantry crane (preferred, but training can be provided) Operating bandsaw (preferred, but training can be provided) Required Qualities: Ability to learn Professional approach Ability to work independently Solid hand/eye coordination Organizational and time management skills Excellent attention to detail Desired Competencies: Analytical thinking Initiative Business awareness Strategic thinking Positive approach to change Qualifications: Relevant industry study or experience White Card Driving License High Risk License (desirable) Experience: Minimum 2 years' experience in the steel fabrication industry Knowledge: Some experience with basic hand tools and electrical tools Communication: Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, varying communication style depending upon the audience. Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail and written skills when communicating with others, both internally and externally. Commerciality: Ability to apply knowledge in a practical, commercial manner. Teamwork: Willingness to assist and support others as required and get on with team members.
