The Department of Health is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for the Tobacco Projects Officer vacancy located in Hobart.
The Role:
As a member of Partnership Development, promote a population health approach to improving health and wellbeing and reducing health inequities through the development of policy and strategic frameworks, research, education and training, project development and evaluation.
Facilitate the development, implementation and evaluation of initiatives, policies, and programs to decrease tobacco use and optimise the health and wellbeing of the Tasmanian population.
Work closely with other government agencies, non-government agencies and other stakeholders to identify and develop strategies to progress state and national priorities related to reducing tobacco-related harm.
Demonstrated significant expertise and/or in-depth experience in the development and implementation of project/policy related work, together with the ability to take initiative in undertaking daily tasks and meeting deadlines within a complex environment subject to work pressures and change. High-level knowledge of current political, social, community and health service issues relevant to population health approaches to reducing tobacco use and other associated strategies for the improvement of health outcomes related to tobacco usage. Proven experience and ability to plan, implement and evaluate strategies to achieve outcomes related to population health approaches to reducing tobacco use. The Team:
The Health Improvement and Partnerships team works across the Department of Health, with communities, other government agencies and key non-government organisations on multiple strategies to ensure that all Tasmanians have the opportunity to live healthy, active lives in communities that support connections between people, place, and culture.
Details of appointment:
Fixed term full-time, day worker, working 76 hours per fortnight, for up to a six-month period from the date of commencement. Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full-time, part-time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $104,756 to $118,730 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
