YOUR ROLE IN OUR FUTURE Theatre Technician Grade 2Ongoing, Part Time and Full Time Roles considered About Perioperative Services:The Operating Suite at Peter Mac provides a comprehensive service for patients undergoing complex cancer surgery ranging from endoscopic surgical procedures through to specialised robotic surgery and very complex multi-speciality cases.
The Operating Suite is comprised of: •    8 Operating Theatres (including dedicated endoscopy and brachytherapy rooms)•    2 Da Vinci Xi Surgical Robotic Systems•    Day of Surgery Admissions (DOSA)•    Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) Major surgical focus includes Colorectal, Upper Gastrointestinal, Hepatobiliary, Breast, Reconstruction, Urology, Melanoma and Plastics, Head and neck, Sarcoma and Vascular, extensive robotic surgery for a number of specialties, High Dose Radiation (Brachytherapy), Intraoperative Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy.
We support patients from across Victoria, Australia and New Zealand. Peter Mac Operating Theatres run Monday to Friday.
There is no rostered weekend, public holiday or night shifts.
Senior Theatre Technicians are required to work occasional On-Call shifts (approx.
1 per week) and be available for weekend On-Call (approx.
8 weekends per year). Skills and experience:•    A minimum of two years' experience as a Theatre Technician (robotics experience desirable).•    Completed Certificate IV in Health Services Assistance Operating Theatre Technical Support or equivalent•    Effective communication skills.•    Excellent time management.•    Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.•    Understanding of Infection Control.•    Sound knowledge of Medical Terminology.•    Knowledge of surgical equipment, patient positioning and OH&S.•    Flexible approach to work and able to be On-Call when required. Renumeration in line with the Health and Allied Services, Managers and Administrative Workers (Victorian Public Sector)(Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2021 - 2025.
Theatre Technician Grade 2 (IN8) $65,754 per annum (full-time equivalent).
Additional Nauseous Allowance payments, Experience Allowance, On-Call Allowances where applicable.

Position Summary Peter MacCallum Operating Suite manages patients across Victoria, Australia and New Zealand and offers a broad variety of specialities including brachytherapy and robotic surgery.

The Theatre Technician position works closely with medical and nursing staff to support the patient's journey and experience of care by providing a range of specialised technical support services.

Maintain a safe, clean and tidy environment in accordance with Safe Operating Procedures.
To comply with all the statutory and hospital rules and regulations relating to the health industry.
To be physically able to perform the duties as required, using appropriate methods and techniques  To maintain an accepted standard of performance to ensure a clean uncluttered environment  Attend to routine cleaning of theatre tables and equipment/furniture between cases  Change mop buckets water & mop heads after each use  Clean equipment e.g.
Diathermy, endoscopy towers and urology towers as per the cleaning regimen  Perform other cleaning duties as outlined in the cleaning duties register  Mopping of floors between cases if required  Disposal of soiled liquids, linen and rubbish from operating theatre.
Maintain an organised work environment  Undertake other cleaning duties as requested by coordinator, medical staff and colleagues  Reports faults/damage of equipment to Floor Coordinator  Handle all waste in a manner having regard for policies or procedures  Use correct manual handling procedures in respect of lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, standing and sitting  Observe Infection Control/personal hygiene precautions at all times  Demonstrate safe work practices at all times  Be vigilant and report any item that may be a breach of Occupational Health and Safety requirements  Participate in relevant audits, portfolios and report writing as requested  Recommend any improvement within the hospital and department  Continually strive to maintain the highest standards of work  2.

Responds in a timely manner to:  Liaising with the multidisciplinary team in relation to patient positioning & equipment requirements  Ensuring the Theatres are ready for use  Trouble shooting basic equipment and positioning aides issues  Awareness of the sterile field and maintaining sterility  Ensuring equipment is placed within the operating theatre in the correct place & connected appropriately e.g.
theatre lights, pendants, Da Vinci robot etc.
