For more than 25 years Vanguard Australia has been supporting individual investors, financial advisers, and superannuation members to achieve their long-term financial goals.This is a permanent Application Engineer role in the INSIGHT durable product team. INSIGHT is an in-house developed web-based analytics platform, built with Python, Dash, React, and hosted in AWS. Its goal is to enhance Vanguard's investment management process through analytics. You will contribute to the regional product team in delivering high-quality technical solutions.Core ResponsibilitiesProvides entry level system analysis, design, development, and implementation of both frontend and backend applications and databases.Translates technical specifications into code for new or enhancement projects for internal clients. Writes programs, develops code, tests artifacts, and produces reports. Employs software development techniques to implement tests that support automation.Elevates code into the development, test, and production environments on schedule. Provides follow up production support.Learns and follows Agile software development methodology. Learns and follows development architecture standards.Participates in design, code, and test inspections throughout the life cycle to identify issues. Participates in systems analysis activities.Learns client business functions and technology needs. Learns Vanguard's tools, technologies, and applications/databases, including those that interface with business area and systems.Learns and complies with Information Technology and Information Security policies and procedures.A curious mind to learn new things and strong appetite to share what you know.Provides second level production support for the product domain.Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.QualificationsMinimum of two years related work experience, with at least one year of development experience.Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.Understanding of multiple IT platforms and languages:Back End: Python 3.x, Pytest, AWS (SQS/SNS, RDS, EC2, Lambda, Cloud Formation, Api Gateway, Glue, Athena) & OktaCI/CD: Git/Git Hub, Bamboo, BitbucketDemonstrate knowledge in Object Oriented programming.Exhibit an interest in uplifting on Investment domain.Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.Contribute to the team delivering quality and clean code constantly.Knowledge of investments management and AI/ML would be an added advantage.Inclusion StatementVanguard's continued commitment to diversity and inclusion is firmly rooted in our culture.
