We are hiring a Technical Director at TEG, owner of Ticketek, SXSW Sydney, Laneway Festival and 30+ other brands across 40 countries! TEG Life Like Touring (LLT), a production company within the TEG family, produces, promotes and delivers live theatre shows and experiential entertainment to audiences worldwide for many of the biggest brands in family entertainment.
Based in Melbourne, the company has grown from a small domestic touring business to a global player in the family entertainment market.
The Technical Director oversees the technical production of designated new LLT productions and tours.
This role is focused on overseeing the technical resourcing and delivery of productions, including the budgets.
Also, the management of all physical aspects of the production build.
The Technical Director is also responsible for global tour oversight, along with crewing tours and events, the movement of productions around various warehouses and workshops, truck and sea-container packs including carnet and/or temporary imports into other countries or territories, advancing production schedules to touring venues including crew calls, lighting plans, hanging plots, and other production requirements.
About the RoleDevelop an in-depth understanding of new Life Like Touring productions.Be actively involved in all aspects of technical development of new productions.Oversight and guidance on the physical build of new productions ensuring elements are built in line with international touring best practice.Oversight on ensuring new productions' packing, tourability and readiness for freight logistics globally.Experience with international freight logistics, and freight forwarders.Oversee delivery of technical production for touring productions, experiences and programs for TEG Life Like Touring productions globally.Liaise with all performance venues prior to arrival to confirm technical requirements, staff requirements, and ensure the venue has any pre-rigging or other technical requirements completed prior to arrival.Being the primary contact for venue technical managers ensuring all requirements are met, whilst presenting a professional image of the production, Life Like Touring and partners.Developing bump in and bump out schedules to maximise efficiency and minimise additional expenditure.Manage contingency plans for each component of the production as required.Adherence to venue and territorial OH&S requirements to support the safety of Cast, Crew and Audience in every circumstance in every venue.Source and hire touring crew, as required.Be an active member of the production crew as required, including possible international touring.Actively manage touring crew on all productions.About youProven production management experience.Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong organisational and planning skills.Proficiency with CAD drawing software.Existing relationships with Australian touring theatres and venues.Experience working with international venues and promoters, an advantage.Networks of touring theatrical crew including stage management and avenues for recruitment, as necessary.Existing relationships with Australian production suppliers.Touring experience would be advantageous.Proficiency in Office 365 programs.Proficiency in Adobe creative suite programs an advantage.A current Australian passport.Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role.So, what does TEG offer?Complimentary tickets to selected events.Birthday Leave.Volunteering Leave.Access to wellbeing discounts.Flu Vaccinations.Company Paid Parental Leave.Free Advice and Support (EAP).What can you expect?Global Reward and Recognition Program.Supportive and exciting Learning and Development Opportunities.Career Pathways.A commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.Great team members!TEG is an equal opportunity employer committed to embracing a diverse and inclusive work environment.
