Position InformationBirrong Boys High School is an inclusive school which values every student equally. Our school is situated in the Bankstown area next to a major rail line linking to the city and regional centres. The student population is 400, comprising boys from Arabic, Asian and Pacific Islander backgrounds. Consequently school resources focus on literacy to meet the needs of the highly aspirant school community. The school is supported by significant Resource Allocation Model Equity Funding. Specific Selection CriteriaApproval to teach secondary English as a second language or currently completing or currently enrolled in an approved post graduate qualification for teaching English as a second language (secondary) as recognised by the NSW Department of Education.
Evidence of differentiated programming, monitoring, assessing and reporting on EAL/D students' English learning progress with reference to the ESL scales, the ESL Reporting Scale and the EAL/D Learning Progressions.
Demonstrated ability to assist in maintaining accurate and completed EAL/D data in ERN for the purposes of the annual survey collection.
Highly developed and effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and build positive relationships with students, staff, families and the wider community.
ConditionsAn unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

If applicable engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the approved post graduate qualification for teaching English as a second language (secondary) as recognised by the NSW Department of Education, which must be completed within 12 months.
