Salary: Teacher, $82,317 - $119,246 per annum (pro-rata) (SEA GA 2023)
This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2025 Leda Education Support Centre (ESC) is committed to providing a safe, inclusive learning environment where all students can achieve their potential. Leda ESC was opened in 1992. Our school population lives in the southwestern corridor filtering into Baldivis and Settlers Hills and outlying areas. We fully believe in our school's moral purpose of "Every Child, Every Opportunity" and embed this across all areas of our school.
At Leda ESC our dynamic team of specialist teachers and education support staff work in close partnership to deliver individualised programmes and evidence-based practice that develops each child's educational, physical, and social skills. The suitable applicant will be required to modify curriculum and adjust to meet the student's individual needs.
We are looking for an Early Childhood educator to join our dynamic team. This position ideally needs a flexible and reflective teacher, preferably with specialist knowledge and skills related to students with moderate to severe disability, including Intellectual Disability (ID), multiple physical disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Trauma. Experience in supporting students with co-morbid diagnoses and complex communication needs is highly desirable. Applicants with special needs qualifications or a willingness to undertake further postgraduate study in special needs education will be highly regarded. The successful applicant should be committed to promoting and fostering student engagement and creating a supportive environment where student success is celebrated.
The successful applicant should be able to develop, implement and review meaningful and appropriate Individual Education Plans that not only outline functional curriculum objectives but that support the whole child through targeted social-emotional skills, life skills, and Protective Behaviours curriculum. We are also a Positive Behaviour Support school, with a focus on explicitly teaching behaviours in a positive process. The successful applicant will ideally assist teaching staff in the delivery of planned education programs and in promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment. You will also ideally provide feedback when required on education and therapy programs and participate in the evaluation process relating to student progress.
The ideal applicant should have a good understanding of the Early Years Framework, National Quality Standards, and ABLEWA. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to collaborate with teachers to create and maintain a supportive, inclusive education program to meet the specific needs of the students is also highly desirable. Emphasis is placed on the acquisition of a range of social and interpersonal skills that will enable our students to interact successfully with their community.

This is emphasised through the collaborative process undertaken in the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), case conferences, and a range of other planning processes.
